The Crisis Stabilization Residential Services (CSRS) Program provides short-term interventions and support for families and youth who are experiencing an urgent mental health, behavioral health, substance use, or medication management crisis. The purpose of this program is to stabilize the current crisis so the child can return home. Crisis Stabilization services are designed for voluntary youth who are in need of a safe, secure environment that is less intensive and restrictive than an inpatient hospital. Eligible youth are those that are under the age of 18, are deemed appropriate for the service through a mental health assessment and are determined to not need inpatient acute hospital psychiatric services. Youth receive therapy and counseling services and a plan for continued stabilization is developed with the youth and family.
Youth Shelter Care also provides Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES) Alternative Services to youth and their families in our six county areas. This service is available to children and families on a 24/7 basis and assists families with resolving an immediate crisis situation in order to keep children safely within their own homes. This service is a component of the Alternative Services offered through our shelter CWES contract and referrals come from the Department of Human Services, Juvenile Court Services and Law Enforcement Agencies.
