How Can You Help
Cody (fictitious name), age 10, arrived at the Shelter several months ago. Cody had been removed from his parent’s care due to their continued substance abuse, homelessness and inability to provide safety and care for him and his siblings.
The children were fortunate to have extended family support to care for them initially, however, Cody’s caregiver struggled to be able to provide the care and support that he needed and he then came to us. Cody has celebrated Easter, his 11th Birthday, and the Fourth of July and soon will enjoy Thanksgiving dinner here with us at the Shelter. Cody has little contact with his siblings and no contact with his mother. Cody has recently been able to have contact with his father and he
hopes to be reunited with him. Cody sees our therapist to help him to better cope with his past and losses and he receives love and support from all of the Shelter’s caring staff.
