The youth that enter our shelter have endured many traumatic events in their young lives and have life experiences that have brought them to the need for out of home placement. Many of the youth that come to us have experienced mistreatment at the hands of the adults that were meant to love, shelter and care for them. Many have little positive family support and most feel unloved, unwanted and unvalued. Many of the children that come to us arrive with few belongings or with garbage bags filled with what they collected through their last placements. These children often lack appropriate clothing and personal hygiene items. YSC strives to make sure that all youth have their basic care needs met while in our care.
